Middle Grade Mondays: My Most Anticipated 2021 Middle Grade Releases!

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well! Welcome back to Middle Grade Mondays a feature that occurs every two weeks (or is supposed to) where I discuss all things middle grade! Today I will be sharing some of the middle grade books I’m really excited about in 2021!

Aru Shah and the City of Gold

This probably comes as a surprise to absolutely no one, but my most anticipated middle grade release of 2021 is Aru Shah and the City of Gold. I’ve absolutely loved this series so far (read more about that here), and I’m so excited for the next installment!

The Shape of Thunder

This book looks so amazing and sad. I really the other middle grade book that I’ve read by Jasmine Warga, Other Words for Home (read my review here) and this just looks so amazing!

Hazel Bly and the Deep Blue Sea

I’ve absolutely loved the other books I’ve read by Ashley Herring Blake. Girl Made of Stars was so beautiful and Ivy Aberdeen’s Letter to the World was one of my favorite books that I read in middle school. I am so excited to read this book!

Glitter Gets Everywhere

This debut looks so good! I’m really excited to see how it handles grief and moving across the world. I really hope I can get a copy and that I end up loving this book.

Generation Misfits

This looks like such a fun book. I loved the two other books I’ve read by Akemi Dawn Bowman, Starfish and Summer Bird Blue, so I’m really excited to see her middle grade debut!

What are some middle grade releases that you’re looking forward to in 2021? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Ooh thanks for the recommendations! These all look incredible 😀 I wasn’t sure where to start with the MG releases coming out this year, so it was so nice to see this post! I do, though, want to read Clues to the Universe, which comes out really soon! Oh I didn’t know about The Shape of Thunder, I’ll definitely look into it, Other Words for Home was so touching. And Generation Misfits has a really cool cover and intriguing title!!

  2. This is a really good list, thank you Ruby! I’m not on top of middle grade releases, so this post was super helpful. I’ve also liked Ashley Herring Blake’s other novels, so I’m eager to add Hazel Bly and the Deep Blue Sea to my TBR. 🙂

    • Thank you so much! I didn’t know much about middle grade releases either until I started researching for this post, and there’s lots of books coming out that look really good! I’m so excited for Hazel Bly and the Deep Blue Sea too!
