Let’s Talk Bookish: Why Do You Blog?

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well! Welcome back to Let’s Talk Bookish, a weekly meme hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books and Dani @ Literary Lion. Today’s topic is all about blogging!

I started blogging in the summer of 2018. I first used it mainly as a way to track my summer reading. I didn’t interact with anyone in the blogging community at all and I mostly posted one paragraph reviews. I didn’t blog consistently at all, and would often disappear for months at a time.

Then in the spring of 2020 when I was suddenly at home a lot more, I decided to try to improve my blog. I started following other sites and getting into discussions with people. I improved the graphics of my blog, started interacting on Goodreads, and even started an Instagram for my blog.

Right now, I love blogging. I love that I can connect with people from all around the world about things that I love. I really enjoy talking to people online about everything bookish. I have learned about so many new books, some of which have become favorites. And I owe it all to the wonderful community here.

I know that I may not blog forever. I probably won’t. I know that there will become a time where I won’t want to read the same books as before. There will probably be a time when reading won’t be such a big part of my life. But for right now, I am so grateful for everyone I’ve met online who have recommended me new books and gotten into discussions with me. Blogging has taught me so much about writing and website design, things that I probably wouldn’t normally learn so much about without it.

This year, I’m mostly hoping to stick to a more consistent schedule with blogging. I also hope to hopefully participate in more guest posts, collaborations, and buddy reads (let me know if you’re interested!) I would love to have more people discover my blog, but I am also really happy with the amount of engagement I have right now. I will also be working on improving the navigation of my blog, but overall I’m really satisfied with how it looks!

What do you think? How long have you been blogging? Why have you continued to do it? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Been blogging for 5 years- started December 2015. I didn’t originally want a blog, but friends and family convinced me to. Was hooked from day 1. I never really thought about why I continued blogging, but I was loving writing the posts and engaging with other bloggers.

It is just something fun to do
