January Book Haul// ft. new releases, 2020 releases, and library loans

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well! Today I’m doing my first book haul of 2021!! I’m pretty excited since I was fortunate enough to get a lot of bookish gift cards for the holidays/my birthday, and I have been able to go to my library recently. Most of the books I’ve received are backlist titles that I still haven’t gotten to read yet, and I can’t wait to start reading all of these books!

Books I Now Own

I would like to put a disclaimer before these books – this is not a normal book haul for me! I was really lucky to get lots of books and gift cards over the holidays, and I usually do not get this many books! Also, the title of each book should link to their Goodreads page.

  • You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson – I read this book over the summer and I really enjoyed it. I was able to get a signed copy and I’m really glad I have a copy of this book!
  • The Fever King and The Electric Heir by Victoria Lee – I’ve heard amazing things about this duology, but my library doesn’t have copies of them. I was able to get two paperbacks and I can’t wait to start them.
  • These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong – I read this in December and absolutely loved it!
  • The Silvered Serpents – I finally read The Gilded Wolves in 2020, but my library still doesn’t have a copy of this sequel, so I got a copy for myself.
  • How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories by Holly Black – I read the Folk of the Air early last year and thought this new story from the world looked interesting. Plus- it has illustrations!

Recent Library Books

These are just a few of the books that I’ve checked out of the library recently.

  • Lucky Caller by Emma Mills – I finished reading this book about a week ago. I thought it was really cute!
  • If You Come Softly by Jacqueline Woodson – I just finished reading this book. It’s a classic and it is such an important story.
  • The Poppy War and The Dragon Republic by R. F. Kuang – I’m finally doing it! I have heard so many amazing things about these books and I cannot wait to read them!
  • We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal – I’ve wanted to read this for a while, and I finally found it at my library.
  • A Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir – I’m pretty nervous to read this one, since I didn’t really like some of the other books in series and it has been a while since I’ve read any of them, but I’m hoping it’s good!

Have you gotten any new books/gone to the library lately? What are some books that you got? What are some books that you look forward to getting soon?

PS: Sorry about the confusion of when this post was to be published! I know it sent an email to email subscribers when there was no post! I am still figuring out scheduling on WordPress and I apologize for the inconvenience.

  1. Ahhh, there are so many great books here! I’ve read and loved These Violent Delights, You Have a Match, and The Silvered Serpents; I hope you enjoy all of them! I’m also looking forwards to reading Concrete Rose, which I recently got a copy of as well.

  2. Ooh, lovely book haul!
I have The Poppy War as an audiobook so I really need to start that. I really liked We Hunt the Flame when I read it last year and I think the sequel just came out so I want to pick that up soon if I can.

  3. I recently bought two new books- the first two books of Nevermoor. Would have bought the 3rd if it was in paperback- still hard cover

The only other books I bought belonged to my kindle
